An Endolift laser is worth it when the profit from your treatments repays the machine and training within a period you are comfortable with. Divide the total investment by your monthly profit to find the payback in months. The example below pays back in about 8.1 months at our asking price, but only on the example figures.
The payback formula
Three steps give you a clear answer.
- Profit per treatment = price charged minus the cost of delivering it (fibre, consumables and practitioner time).
- Monthly profit = profit per treatment multiplied by treatments per month, minus fixed monthly costs such as marketing, finance and insurance.
- Payback in months = machine price plus training cost, divided by monthly profit.
A worked example
Take a price of £2,000 per treatment, a cost of £250 per treatment, 3 treatments a month and £800 of fixed monthly costs. The machine costs £34,500, which is our asking price, and training £1,500, so the investment is £36,000.
Profit per treatment is £1,750. Three treatments give £5,250 a month, less £800 of fixed costs, which leaves £4,450. Divide £36,000 by £4,450 and the payback is about 8.1 months.
The machine price is our asking price. Every other figure is an example and not a forecast. Replace every number with your own.
How volume and price change the answer
| Scenario | Monthly profit | Payback |
|---|---|---|
| 2 treatments a month at £2,000 | £2,700 | About 13.3 months |
| 3 treatments a month at £2,000 | £4,450 | About 8.1 months |
| 3 treatments a month at £1,500 | £2,950 | About 12.2 months |
| 5 treatments a month at £2,000 | £7,950 | About 4.5 months |
Volume matters more than most owners expect. Endolift UK says UK clinics typically charge from £2,000 to £4,000 per treatment depending on the area, but whether you can fill the diary at your price is the real test.
What the formula leaves out
- Demand: do you already have patients asking for jawline, neck or eye area tightening?
- Practitioner capacity: a trained practitioner and enough room time.
- Marketing: new treatments need promotion before the diary fills.
- Tax, VAT and finance interest: speak to your accountant.
- Resale value: a used machine can usually be sold on later, which reduces the real cost of owning it, though this cannot be guaranteed.
