What 1470nm means
Wavelength decides how laser light interacts with tissue. Light at 1470nm is strongly absorbed by water, which is why this wavelength suits treatments that act on water rich tissue such as skin and fat. It is also the reason the laser needs careful handling and the right protective eyewear. See our guide to Endolift laser safety.
Pulse modes and power
Single pulse, pulsed and continuous modes give the practitioner control over how energy is delivered. The unit has preloaded protocols for different areas, shown on the touchscreen, and the practitioner can adjust the settings. Power is adjustable up to 15W according to Endolift UK.
The red aiming beam
The invisible treatment beam is paired with a red 635nm aiming beam so the practitioner can see where the fibre tip is working. It is a visible guide, not the treatment beam, and it does not mean the laser is safe to look at.
Size, power supply and cooling
At 8.5kg and roughly 30 x 35 x 15cm, the console is compact and sits on a trolley for use and storage. It runs from 110 to 230V and uses air cooling with Peltier cells, so it needs no water supply or plumbing.
Safety class and standards
Medical diode lasers of this power are generally treated as Class 4 lasers, which carry strict controls for eye and skin safety. Check the classification label on the machine you are buying. The manufacturer lists CE marking and compliance with the IEC 60601 and IEC 60825 standards series.
What to check on a used unit
Specifications describe a new machine. On a used one you also need the serial number, service history, treatment count and a working test. Our used Endolift laser buying checklist covers each step. If you would like to see a specific unit, ours is a LASEmaR 1500 for sale in London.
